Bom Jesus House

Bom Jesus House

HOUSING
BRAGA, PORTUGAL

The volume of the house is assumed in the natural morphology of the hillside. The junction, factual and metaphorical, between the building and it’s surroundings is a reinterpretation of the landscape, allowing the integration of the residence in the nature. The entire house is composed in a “elbow type” shape taking advantage of the existent topography.

It emerges in the glades of the trees (intimate area) and curve to gain perspective on the landscape guaranteeing the visual axes of the interior to the exterior. The most social areas of the house obtain the panorama in the form of a periscope. The result is an outline of a “U” forming a patio for everyday existence. The vernacular colors influenced the choice of the materials, essentially granite, copper and wood.
